Streamer Effortlessly Checkmates Twitch's New Ad Policy
Twitch is having a hard time updating its branded content policy, with viewers and streamers alike up in arms against its new proposed guidelines.
Twitch was even forced to walk back its changes, stating that the "update was overly broad," and that they "missed the mark with the policy language and will rewrite the guidelines to be clearer."
Along with prohibiting user created ads and simulcasting, Twitch has also banned ads that take up more than 3% of the screen. The changes could be catastrophic for streamer revenue, but the gamer Paladin came up with a genius workaround that puts Twitch in its place.
"Checkmate," she captioned her video, while pulling up a projector in the background of the shot with Razer - one of her partners - taking up well more than 3% of the screen.
"That was clean as hell," @CasasPlays commented.
Twitch is going to have to think a little harder if they want to keep the streaming community from doing what they want.
