News Anchor Gets Uncomfortably Personal With Female Co-Anchor

Way back in 1988, the on-air demeanor of longtime lead news anchor Jim Jensen was called into question when, during a segment on emerging technology to detect birth defects, began to question his co-host, Bree Walker, about her own birth defects.

What he actually goes on to ask is quite a whammy, and he asks it several times on-air with the American public watching. Which is, quite frankly wild. Jensen wouldn't face any disciplinary action at the time but it generated quite the s--tstorm in the immediate aftermath.

Walker, who was born with ectrodactyly, handled herself extremely well in the moment, all things considered, and would go on to continue her career as an anchor, disability-rights activist, and even dabble in acting.

Jensen, who was otherwise one of the more credentialed anchors and news reporters in broadcasting at the time (and now), later checked himself into rehab for drug and alcohol addiction where he made a successful recovery.
