Hurricane Helene Is Making Electric Cars Explode

Hurricane Helene has caused incredible damage throughout the Southeastern United States. Hitting places as far inland as Asheville, North Carolina — which is a full four-hour drive away from the ocean — numerous towns and cities have been devastated by the storm, leaving residents on their own to pick up the pieces of whatever’s left of their homes.

While one would like to think that all of the damage of something like this is predictable, it’s often not. For example, if you have an electric car and you’re in the path of the hurricane, you might want to ditch your ride. That’s because saltwater can damage the internals of the car, and if things get really bad, it may cause your EV to explode, as this video shows.
