While getting struck by lightning is rare, it's not impossible, just ask these people. 

If you find yourself in the middle of a lightning storm you want to stay away from bodies of water and metal poles. The best place to be is somewhere inside and away from electronics. A car is also a safe place to hide as the rubber tires will absorb most of the damage of a lightning strike. Hopefully, you never find yourself proving this though.
