One Texas pet owner’s worst nightmare became a reality over the weekend when a Lyft driver drove away with his cat while on his way to the vet.

Palash Pandey wrote a long X (Twitter) thread about his journey trying to get back his cat from the Lyft driver who claimed to have mistakenly driven off with his cat Tux.

Pandey’s terrible weekend included encounters with an uncommunicative Lyft driver, frustrating Lyft customer service employees, and offers of help from local animal cruelty units, and the entire city of Austin.

The saga enraptured thousands of people online and even local Lyft drivers offered their hand in the search for Tux.
