1.
When I was 8 or so, we had this project in school. I think it was to learn prepositions or something. -
2.
We were to write and illustrate a story, about any character we wanted, and how they went up/over/around/through/etc different environments and objects. -
3.
I was pretty much obsessed with cougars at the time, so I made my character a cougar. He went for a walk. -
4.
And since cougars are known to be fierce predators, I named him “Killer”. -
5.
I wasn’t a big fan of the boring up/over/around/through nonsense, but I did enjoy drawing, so I made the best of it. -
6.
But the real payoff was that once we got done with all the preposition nonsense, the last page was all ours. -
7.
Complete creative freedom. -
8.
So I dutifully completed the seven pages of necessary filler. -
9.
So that I could finish with my pièce de résistance. -
10.
Unfortunately, my teacher’s response to my masterpiece was to call my mom in to discuss my “emotional issues”.
