Aggressive Boss Forces Employee to Take Notes of Everything She Says in a Meeting; Gets Fired
Be careful what you wish for, because you might get exactly what you want. That's what happened to this bad boss, who asked one employee with record-keeping experience to take notes on everything said in every team meeting, before berating said employee and everyone else.
Posted on the r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by u/SickSIL1998, Sick wrote about being part of a "small improvements team." Who knew that the eventual improvement would be a new boss? Having worked in record keeping due to an HR incident in a previous role, Sick was tasked with taking notes on everything said during each team meeting. In the meantime, their aggressive boss routinely made life difficult by ignoring requests, blaming employees over procedures, and even turning a blind eye to safety issues. Eventually, tensions boiled over, and the boss began to berate her employees, stating that if "someone was going to die, they already would have, right?"
As requested, Sick recorded the meeting word for word and distributed the recap to the rest of the team. Before long the document was in HR, Sick's two-week notice was in, and the boss's pink slip was filed. "I still feel a bit bad," Sick wrote, "But at the end of the day, I just did what she had asked me to do."
