Edible Growth is an example of high-tech but fully natural, healthy, and sustainable food made possible by combining aspects of nature, science, technology and design. -
2.
Edible Growth is about 3D printing with living organisms. -
3.
You start by printing a structure of seeds, spores and yeast. As it comes out of the 3D printer, you can really see the straight lines of the technology. -
4.
From there it will develop in 3 to 5 days. As it develops you can see the organic shape take place. -
5.
In 5 days you can see the transformation of the fully grown edible. You can see the stages of growth and the development of taste and flavor. -
6.
By 3D printing food you can predict the food chain. -
7.
Transportation will cost less, because the recourses take up such a small space. -
8.
Less land is needed for production. -
9.
It will be easy to experiment with new structures. -
10.
It will take at least 8-10 years before this can be on the market, because the technologies need to be developed further. -
11.
People think that if products are produced by industrialized production matters it’s unnatural or unhealthy. This doesn’t have to be the case. You can see it’s natural and doesn’t contain any preservatives because it doesn’t need to be stored. -
12.
It will contain everything you need inside the structure, it’s actually very healthy and sustainable.
