The world of dating is notoriously tough and no one traverses without a few bruises — or hilarious terrible date stories. Over on r/AskReddit, users have given some of the wildest worst first date stories. The answers range from adolescent mistakes to dates that could have made true crime podcasts.

You should not judge a book by its cover especially if it’s concealing a dirty apartment of horrors like one user found out after going on a date with a “college-degreed professional lady.” Not everyone takes Dusting 101. Another user got other-manned so hard that he witnessed his date get proposed to by his ex (yet they didn’t pick up the bill, which is more selfish). Finally, like everyone on the internet apparently, there was a user with a story involving pooping her pants. Having an accident as an adult is already a pretty embarrassing experience, so she definitely wins this round of worst first dates.
