After dating a man for multiple years and getting married, one woman recounted realizing that her husband wasn't at all the person he had pretended to be over the course of their entire relationship. "When I asked him why he'd lied to me about who he was before, he literally said, 'I didn't think you'd like me if you knew,'" she wrote. It's scary to think that someone could maintain a facade for that long, and wild that he thought he should try. "Don't you think I kind of deserve to decide that for myself?"

One man had a similar conversation after he discovered that his girlfriend had lied to him. "It wasn't a lie, really, it was just something I said so you'd like me," she told him. Is there a bigger red flag than somebody justifying their lying for the sake of "ignorance is bliss?"
