For gamers, Twitch is a real double-edged sword. It’s a great way to become a streamer, find out about new games, or just kill some time when you’re bored.
But streaming also leads to bans and other scandals that are downright stupid. Twitch doesn't seem to know what it wants sometimes, so it ends up over reacting and banning people for no good reasons.
Here's the definitive roundup of the dumbest streaming scandals of all time.

Kaceytron Offends Everyone There's a fine line when it comes to humor. After all, one person’s dark joke is another person’s Terms of Service violation. And this is a lesson we can all learn from Kaceytron. Back when the COVID-19 pandemic was still new, she cracked a joke about letting the virus run rampant. “We would leave quarantine, and we would try to spread it as much as possible because the world would be a better place without old and poor people.” Twitch was not amused, and she was suspended for hateful conduct and threatening violence against groups of people. -

Twitch’s War On Words Not every streaming scandal comes from streamers. Sometimes it comes from Twitch, which is exactly what happened when they went to war against words like 'simp.' This word was one of many that are now considered harassment. Other words include 'incel' and 'virgin' because they have been used as insults against other players. While Twitch insists they will only enforce this policy if the words are used to harass someone else, it’s still funny to think of the executive who decided people couldn’t call each other virgins on Twitch anymore. -

Kaceytron Offends Everyone https://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2019-07-30-streamers-host-slutstreamday-to-fight-harassment-raise-money-for-charity There is a fine line when it comes to humor. After all, one person’s dark joke is another person’s Terms of Service violation. And this is a lesson we can all learn from Kaceytron. Back when the COVID-19 pandemic was still new, she cracked a “joke” about letting the virus run rampant. “We would leave quarantine, and we would try to spread it as much as possible because the world would be a better place without old and poor people.” Twitch was not amused, and she was suspended for hateful conduct and threatening violence against groups of people! -

MrGolds Cheats on Stream (watch here) One thing all of us can agree on is that nobody likes a cheater. And MrGolds should have figured that out before he cheated on stream. He was in the middle of telling nearly 2,000 viewers what an ace he was at Call of Duty: Warzone. But he made the mistake of showing viewers his desktop, where the popular cheat engine EngineOwning was running. Twitch suspended him, and when the streamer eventually returned, he stayed well away from Warzone. -
5.
Carl Riemer Starts Blasting For many bans, it’s Twitch acting unfairly towards streamers. But sometimes streamers bring things down around their own heads, and that’s what happened with Carl Riemer. On stream, a visibly-drunk Reimer was fooling around with a handgun and ended up firing it. Fortunately, neither Reimer nor anyone else was injured by this stunt. But the incident was enough to get his Twitch channel suspended and even get him kicked from the SoaR gaming squad. -
6.
Donald Trump’s Weird Account It’s weird to think that Donald Trump had a Twitch account. And it’s even weirder that this account is now banned. Trump himself never appeared on stream, but the channel was used to push some of his more aggressive rhetoric. When the powers that be determined the account violated policies against hateful conduct, it got the ax. Which is sad, because with Trump’s upcoming free time, he could probably rock the hell out of some Minecraft speed runs. -
7.
xQc the Stream Sniper What’s worse than getting a Twich ban? Getting banned for a completely idiotic stunt. That’s what happened when xQc was banned for stream-sniping on Fall Guys during a Twitch Rivals tournament. He screwed over DrLupo, Shroud, and Tyler1 via stream-sniping even though xQc couldn’t win. He ended up getting a weeklong ban for his shenanigans during this cash tournament. -
8.
Dellor, the Keyboard Warrior (watch here) In online arguments, one side often calls the other a “keyboard warrior.” But as Dellor found out, you can get banned for going to war with your keyboard. In a now infamous stream, he smashed a keyboard over his head to celebrate getting more subscribers. It was silly and harmless, but this didn’t keep Twitch from banning him for attempted “self-harm.” -
9.
Nymn: Who Streams the Streamers? Sometimes Twitch suspends someone for violating the letter of the guidelines if not the spirit. And that was certainly the case with NymN’s temporary suspension. During TwitchCon 2019, NymN briefly streamed from the Twitch Partner Lounge. But this area is off limits for streaming so that everyone can rest and relax without being “on” for the camera. Because of his faux pas, NymN received a 14-day suspension. -

Velvet_7 Accidentally Banned With most of these bans, we’re left scratching our heads as to why Twitch made this decision. Sometimes though, even Twitch doesn’t know what happened. That’s what happened with Velvet_7. While she had previously been banned for sexual content, she was later banned for an entire month. Twitch admitted this was a mistake on their part, but it’s pretty bad. A month might as well be a year for a streamer. -

BeesOnMyHeadTV Gets Attacked It can be hard to sympathize with streamers. But it’s pretty easy when they get punished for being attacked on stream. BeesOnMyHeadTV was actually carjacked on stream and the attackers went so far as to fire guns at him. Twitch suspended his account and claimed they were protecting his privacy, but it looks like the took the worst day of his life and made things worse. -

Fareeha Works Out On paper, Twitch’s policy of streamers not wearing underwear makes a lot of sense. At least it does until the platform forgets what actual underwear looks like. Fareeha was banned for appearing in what Twitch thought was her lingerie. However, as she sarcastically noted on social media, these were her gym clothes. It genuinely seems like someone at Twitch had never seen a midriff before and freaked out. -
14.
Quqco’s Chun-Li Cosplay How does Twitch define sexual content? It seems to be a bit of a moving target, which Quqco found out the hard way. While she had been hit with sexual content bans before, it was never quite as weird as when she cosplayed as Chun-Li on stream. Her outfit doesn’t reveal anything more than the actual video game outfit, but she was nonetheless suspended for showing viewers a little too much. -

Dr. Disrespect’s Mystery Ban When you refer to Dr. Disrespect’s Twitch ban, you need to be specific. For example, he made many waves before for streaming from an E3 toilet and received a temporary ban. But his permanent ban from last year remains a mystery. For what is most likely legal reasons, Dr. Disrespect has been mostly mum about his account being suspended. But this makes things even more frustrating for his fans who see a major streamer being punished for an undefined crime. -

Gabepeixe and the Naked Butts Twitch is very careful about streamers and nudity, even when it is something in the background. And Gabepeixe discovered this thanks to a Pink Floyd poster. The “Back Catalogue” poster features the painted backs and backsides of several different women. Not only was it crazy to ban someone over a work of art, but this wasn’t even the streamer’s own poster. Instead, the poster appeared in another streamer’s broadcast that Gabepeixe was simply watching. -

Amouranth Slips Up Twitch is very strict about streamers showing a bit too much flesh. And as Amouranth found out, even an accidental slip-up is enough to earn a temporary ban. During one of her typical “Just Chatting” sessions, she was playing with her dog when she accidentally exposed herself. She was soon back on the platform, but this wouldn’t be the last time she was temporarily banned for fairly stupid reasons.
