In one episode of The Facts of Life, Cindy is worried about her sexuality because she's becoming too friendly with another girl and other girls are making fun of her for it. Mrs. Garrett tells her she should never be ashamed of loving another person. Then two weeks later she falls for a boy at a dance because sometimes audiences really hate mature themes. -
2.
This one time the Brady Bunch went to Hawaii on vacation and Bobby found a cursed Tiki idol. Near disasters occur with alarming frequency until 30 minutes later when Don Ho sings a song. If this episode aired today, all hell would break loose on twitter due to the literally hundreds of Hawaiian and Polynesian stereotypes presented and lumped together as one culture. -
3.
Mr. Horton was a big fat pedophile who diddled Dudley on Diff'Rent Strokes. Despite bringing to attention many classic grooming techniques of pedophiles, the episode was not very well received due to its mature themes. -
4.
The Dukes of Hazard once decided they really needed to do an episode with an alien ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
5.
Kimberly Drummond once had bulimia for 30 minutes on Diff'Rent Strokes. After she confessed to eating a whole jar of peanut butter to her dad and puking it up, the subject was never touched on again. -
6.
Little House on the Prairie had a clown rapist. The worst thing about this storyline is that at every turn Sylvia is treated badly by her father. When she dies from a fatal fall, we are actually glad for her escape from that hell of an existence. -
7.
Mork from Mork and Mindy meet Robin Williams, who played Mork on Mork and Mindy. This episode has its head so far up its own ass the word "meta" doesn't even describe it. -
8.
Punky Brewster did a class presentation on wanting to be an astronaut, just a few weeks after the space shuttle Challenger exploded shortly after launch and killed all seven crew members. This was meant to be a hopeful episode and tribute to the late Christa Mcauliffe, a teacher who was also a NASA crew member, but it greatly missed the mark. The words "too soon" may have been involved. -
9.
Family Ties' alcoholic Uncle Ned (Tom Hanks) drinks a bottle of vanilla extract because all the beer in the house is gone. He attempts to pressure his nephew into driving him to the store (which is closed because it's 2am) for a beer run, before randomly consuming baking ingredients hoping they contain some alcohol. -
10.
Fonzie jumped over a shark but everyone already knows that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jumping_the_shark
