Those red shoes are more than just overpriced Louboutions, according to the internet’s latest baseless footwear-related conspiracy.

Enter the red shoe theory, an unfounded conspiracy purporting that the rich and famous’ penchant for sporting blood-colored kicks is more than a coincidence, but rather the marker of a secretive “red shoe club.”

First emerging in the conspiracy internet zeitgeist circa 2020, per HITC, the red shoe club exists in the same vein as other bizarre theories like “Pizzagate” and “Q-Anon,” alleging that celebrities, royals, and politicians, don red shoes crafted from the skin of children they’ve hunted and killed. (Yes, really).

“Now, if ya’ll think everything that they put out there is a fashion statement I don’t what to tell you,” conspiracy TikTok creator @naturalista_i_am explained in a viral video dating back to February, shortly after MSCHF released their cartoon-like red boots, a style she linked back to the fictitious club.

But it’s not just MSCHF repping stars accused of joining in this fictitious club. Everyone from Jerry Seinfeld, to Tony Podesta, Tom Hanks, and Queen Elizabeth II (nightmare blunt rotation) have been implicated in theories of this secret society, a testament to just how much conspiracy theories can and will read into absolutely everything.

Stay woke … or don’t, it’s really just a pair of red shoes.
