Though Vistex CEO Sanjay Shah may have meant to make a grand entrance at his company’s recent anniversary party, he found himself making a grand exit instead, plummeting to his death in an aerial stunt gone wrong.

On Thursday night, Shah and Vishwanath Raju Datla, the Illinoisian company’s president, hit the stage at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India for Vistex Asia’s silver jubilee, a celebration they attempted to kick off with a WWE-style entrance.

Yet as the pair began their descent down to the stage, a cable snapped, sending them falling several feet to the stage below.

Shah, who landed on his head, died shortly after being transported to the hospital. Dalta remains in critical condition.

A clip of the incident quickly went viral on social media, sparking an outpouring of condolences — “What a sad story. Life can end quickly,” wrote @eraz00r — and some serious questions.

“Tech bros will literally fall to their deaths rather than give unmemorable speeches safely on the ground,” wrote @EvilPapaDeRazon.

“Kendall Roy was moments away from a similar accident before cooler heads prevailed,” added @ianpiepenbrock_.

When in doubt,  maybe try taking the stairs.
