The 45-year-old DJ and music producer, Steve Aoki, is best known for his club hits, collaborations with major artists, and... cake throwing? The Grammy-nominated electronic musician has developed the unique tradition of beaning audience members with cakes from the stages of his live shows. Oh, and he's an absolute SNIPER!

His TikTok bio reads, "here because this app needs more cake," and with a lefty rifle even Steve Young would be proud of, he's definitely giving the app, and his fans, a lot more cake. Although he's been catapulting cakes since 2011, Aoki's accuracy first went viral in a 2013 clip that shows him nailing a wheelchair-bound fan from 80 feet away.

The cake throwing has become so popular, that it is now part of virtually every one of his concerts. "The crowd now expects it from the show,” he told Celebretainment. “We have a special team of cake makers that travel the world with us getting the consistency just right — the desired effect is explosive rather than edible.” No wonder these cakes fly through the air like missiles.

His desire for "explosive" cake stems from the origin of this pastry pitching tradition, something Aoki described while speaking to Daily Beast. "I was thinking of new ways to engage with my audience," he says. "It was inspired by an Autoerotique music video, an artist on Dim Mak, that made a great music video where cakes exploded in people’s faces as they blew out the candles. I literally woke up with the idea of caking someone while playing that song to help promote the video." But when it came time to move on from playing that specific song, the cake stayed. "Fans had been shooting videos and showing their friends... it became a strong element of my show. The cake had gone viral."
