In what is surely one of the greatest injustices of our time, a man with a truly majestic head of hair took to Reddit to ask for advice after being presented with an ultimatum by his girlfriend: lose the hair or lose her.

Posting to the subreddit for the Two Hot takes podcast, the man wrote, “My girlfriend doesn’t like my hair anymore. She met me and loved my hair, but now as we’ve gotten older, she wants me to have a more traditional style. I don’t think I could bring myself to it, we’ve been together for 1 1/2 years. Should I break up with her?”

Accompanying the post are photos featuring a man with shoulder-length blond hair, blown out and styled to look like he stepped right out of a time machine from the late 1970s/early 1980s. As one commenter put it, “Look, the world is split into two kinds of women — those who enjoy their man looking like a Farah Fawcett impersonator and those who don’t. Sounds like she’s just not the right match for you.”

Another commenter joked, “Did she like it when she time-traveled to 1977 and hooked up with you, but doesn’t like it now that she brought you to 2024?”

Fortunately, like many posts on the internet, the entire thing is very likely fake. It’s hard to confirm, but one commenter claimed to have graduated high school with the guy in the photos, which themselves were taken a decade ago. That timeline makes sense when you consider the quality of the photos, the model of phones visible in the mirror shots, and the clothes on the “girlfriend” in question.

Wherever the man in the photos is now, I just hope he didn’t face any similar ultimatums from any romantic partners and is still proudly sporting that incredible hair everywhere he goes.
