We’ve all been there, Nick — the trick is not letting it happen on stage.

Recently, comedian Nick Swardson attempted to perform a stand-up set in the mountain town of Beaver Creek, Colorado. Prior to the show, he decided to loosen up with a few drinks and some edibles. Unfortunately for Swardson, he didn’t take the 8,100-foot altitude into account, meaning that the cocktail of weed and, well, cocktails, hit him right as he was going on stage.

What resulted was a total disaster.

Across this two-minute video, which OP says was filmed around 15 minutes into a set that largely consisted of “nonsensical stuttering and rambling,” Swardson can be seen trying to hype himself back up to continue the proceedings. “Here we go, here we go, alright, here we go,” he says over and over. He then repeatedly claims that he’s about to do an impression of Jason Statham in The Beekeeper. The audience is spared the impression, and soon, Swardson gets removed from the stage.

“We decided to conclude the show early in the best interests of those who bought tickets,” says a man who identifies himself as the theater’s director of operations. “We apologize for what you’ve seen tonight. Please email the box office. They’ll be responding to inquiries and processing credits and refunds. We apologize.”

Swardson himself eventually responded to the incident with a post on X/Twitter, claiming that he’ll “make it up” to the good people of Beaver Creek.

Hopefully next time he’ll save the drinks and edibles for after the show!
