Move over, private investigators, faux phone calls, and the ever-unethical text reading, there’s a brand new way to see if you’re S.O. is two-timing you this Valentine’s Day — taking a peek at their schedule leading up to Cupid’s holiday.

Earlier this week, Delish Video Director Julia Smith headed to TikTok with a concerning tidbit about the most romantic time of year — cheaters can and will come out to play.

“In the restaurant industry, there’s something called ‘Mistress Day,’ ‘Mistress Night,’ ‘Paramour Night,’ she began her now-viral clip. “It’s basically the night or few nights before Valentine’s Day when people bring out the person that they’re not necessarily dating or married to out to dinner.”

Despite the seedy implication of this steamy night on the town, the money speaks for itself, cheating S.O.’s to open their hearts — and their wallets — for their other lovers before the big day.

“Typically, the couples end up spending the same amount of money or more than they would on their primary partner,” she added.

Yet this high rolling doesn’t go unnoticed by waitstaff. According to Smith, several restaurant employees have stories about cheaters hitting the same restaurant with their sanctioned sweetie days after dining with their sneaky link.

“If your partner is suspiciously not available on February 13, maybe you check out the restaurant that you’re going to on the 14th,” she joked. “You might find you there.”

So take it from Smith — Valentine’s Day is quite literally a whole-week affair.
